What is Hangcha forklift’s lithium-Ion technology?
Our world needs more clean and renewable power. Over the past decade, lithium-ion batteries have become the dominant rechargeable battery chemistry in nearly all industries. Hangcha and CATL have joined to provide you with cutting edge material handling equipment that is shaped by lithium-ion batteries. Lithium-ion technology (Lithium Iron Phosphate) was developed by Hangcha and CATL under the joint venture company, Hangzhou Pengcheng New Energy Technology Co. Ltd., for material handling equipment applications. This lithium iron phosphate powered material handling equipment has been tested over 270 times for safety and reliability.
In the most simple definition, lithium-ion batteries have a negative electrode (anode) and a positive electrode (cathode) that transfers lithium ions between the two materials. So what does all of this mean? What are the advantages of lithium-ion technology?
Advantages of Hangcha Forklift’s Lithium-ion technology
High Energy Density
The lithium-ion battery packs found in Hangcha forklifts have double the energy density of a lead-acid battery of the same dimensions. The voltage supply is also stable throughout the energy discharge, leading to longer run times for the end-user.
Efficiency
Hangcha USA’s lithium-ion forklifts take only two hours to fully charge compared to charging a lead-acid battery truck for 8-10 hours and allowing it to cool down for another 8-10 hours. The lithium-ion technology in a Hangcha forklift also allows for the truck to run in three-shift environments. This is thanks to opportunity charging that allows the end-user to continuously run the forklifts for three shifts if they charge the battery during their breaks. The only way a lead-acid truck is able to run three shifts is by having three batteries and switching them out between shifts.
Maintenance Free
Lithium-ion battery packs do not require manual maintenance like lead-acid battery packs do. Lithium-ion batteries do not need to be watered or have acid level checks performed. Because of this, these lithium-ion battery packs are virtually maintenance free.
Battery Management System
Hangcha’s battery management system with the lithium-ion battery packs is designed to continually monitor the lithium-ion cells and other vital components. This system offers overcharge/over-discharge protection, fault monitoring, battery health estimates, battery current/voltage detection, and a low cost/low power consumption feature. All of these features are put into place to make Hangcha forklifts’ lithium-ion battery packs the most reliable power option.
Warranty/Life-long Cycle
Lithium-ion battery packs in Hangcha forklifts are designed to last a long time. Hangcha USA offers a 10 year or 20,000 hour warranty on the A series 3-Wheel Lithium-ion Electric Forklift and the XC series Lithium-ion Electric Forklift. The XC series Lite-Duty Lithium-ion Electric Forklift gets a 5 year or 10,000 hour warranty on the battery packs. Hangcha’s lithium-ion batteries are considerably less prone to failures when compared to the average amount of failures a lithium-ion battery has over its life cycle.
Cold Area Application
The lithium-ion material handling equipment can stand the test of the cold thanks to electrical heating equipment. When compared to a lead-acid powered truck, the batteries in the lithium-ion heat up to 32 degrees F in one-third of the time it would take the lead-acid powered truck. Hangcha’s lithium-ion powered forklifts maintain a high level of performance even at temperatures below freezing.
Beneficial to the Environment
Harmful emissions are not released into the environment when using lithium-ion batteries. Additionally, they do not use acid and have twice the service life when compared to lead-acid powered forklifts. These batteries are substantially more efficient when charging and discharging, and they are completely recyclable.
Safety
Thanks to extensive testing and state-of-the-art design, Hangcha’s lithium-ion technology is extremely safe. These battery packs are designed not to release any harmful gasses, work without the use of acid, and prevent operator strain by reducing the need to change battery packs. With the intelligent battery management system of the lithium-ion technology, the battery is constantly monitored to make sure the forklift is safe to operate.
Rigorous Testing and Validation
Hangzhou Pengcheng New Energy Technology Co. Ltd., a joint venture between Hangcha Group and CTL, have performed over 273 tests to ensure the safety and reliability of the lithium-ion battery backs in the Hangcha lithium-ion forklift line.
Total Cost of Ownership
The high entry cost of the lithium-ion product line from Hangcha USA is justified with a cost reduction of about 55 percent when compared to a lead-acid battery. Moreover, the total cost of ownership is significantly less than it would be with a lead-acid battery powered forklift. This is made possible by the lithium-ion forklifts’ lower operating costs, efficiency and longer times between services.
