In the material handling industry it’s important to know the status of your equipment and understand and see all of the costs involved in your operation. Not knowing your costs can lead to gross overspending and a lack of ability to make informed decisions.

This is why ACT offers Quarterly Business Reviews for companies who have larger fleets. Our QBRs can reveal costs related to specific pieces of equipment, making it much easier to decide when to retire equipment and get a general overview of equipment utilization.

Why do you need a Quarterly Business Review? If you are certain you have high visibility of the costs related to operating your industrial equipment, maybe you don’t need help. However, with ACT’s help, we can make certain you have a clear view of all of these costs as well as provide an experienced associate to help you find opportunities to save money and make your operation run more smoothly with fewer headaches.

Examples of typical information covered during a Quarterly Business Review:

A dashboard that shows an overview of fleet categories and costs related to each category for the quarter. This is meant to bring into focus the total spend in repairs and maintenance.

Material Handling Fleet Overview showing the number of machines in each category as well as costs related to each category

Cost per Hour analysis shows in order of descending costs, which units have cost the most to operate in the past quarter. This section allows the customer to see which units should be highest priority to replace.

Related to the Cost Per Hour information, the Cost Breakdown by Unit allows the customer to see exactly how much was spent for each unit in terms of labor, parts and avoidable damage. This information is useful not only to pinpoint units that had significant costs, but also to see why. (Avoidable Damage is caused by the user and could have been prevented with proper training or with greater care when operating the equipment.)

The Utilization Overview allows the customer to see the amount of use each piece of equipment saw in the past quarter. Taking into account the nature of the customer’s business (Seasonal, 24-7, 8 hour shifts 5 days etc.) Utilization is based upon how many hours the machines have operated based upon 100% of available hours of operation related to the actual hours accrued on the machine’s hour meter.

Example Week: 40 hours total for an 8 hour shift, Unit has 36 hours on it for the week = 90% utilization

Perhaps the most useful part of the QBR, the Fleet Recommendations section are recommendations from your ACT associate after carefully reviewing the quarterly report. These are standout recommendations that would provide the greatest savings/improvements when acted upon. The value of the report is summed up in this section, allowing for easy, data-driven decisions. No guesswork, just real savings, and real improvements.
